Hwang Kun in Montreal

Amazing pajeon! Hwang Kum has the best seafood pancake in Montréal it's no secret. But it also has other excellent korean specialties. Try the Sundubu Jjigae or the Budae Jjigae.

Undoubtedly the best pajeon I've ever tried. And the dishes are all flavorful. However the portions are super small for the price of the dish. A plate of bbq pork galbi was more than 20$ but the amount of pork was less than half a rack of ribs.

My husband and I love this restaurant! They have the best seafood pancake that I ever had in my life!! Very sick and crispy outside and soft in side! The restaurant is a bit small and crowded all the time! Be prepared for waiting

Their most well known menu item is their haemul pajeon(seafood pancake).It's on a different level than the ones served at other Korean restaurants in the city. A lot more crisper and thick with a nice texture to it. Definitely recommend. I've tried a few of their other dishes which were fine but always return for their pancake.

Great place when its open (seems to be closed randomly without forewarning). Lots of complimentary side dishes and the seafood pancake was great. Would not recommend the salmon bowl, the tteokbokki (rice cake), or the kimbap.

Best Korean seafood pancake and beef galbi hands down! This is my favourite Korean restaurant ever, and I’ve tried quite a few. The place is small though and has particular opening hours so I make sure to call beforehand to see if they’re open before going.

Heard good things about this resto but it seems like it’s always closed everytime I try to go - when you check their schedule online it says it’s open but you get there an the place is empty. Very frustrating because I am coming from far.

Great home style Korean.

Great "Korean" food. Little money was spent on decor but there is a NYC type of atmosphere. Opens at 6pm and expect a lineup within 30 minutes of opening.

Really amazing Korean food, probably the best I've had so far in Canada. Had Korean food in other countries and this one is the best too. Definitely recommend.Fair prices for the quality.

Best seafood Pajeon I've had in Montreal !

The best korean I've had in town. Need I say more? But i will - the seafood pancake is amazing and bulgogi is incredible. One day ill explore more of the menu but these are hands down winners.

Love this place, the food is delicious. The place is small and cozy, not the type to have crazy party, but the type to enjoy your food and catching up

My favorite korean restaurant! Everything I've ordered so far was good :) Perhaps it's a little expensive and perhaps it's not as authentic (for example, I know that their seafood pancake is a little different from real Korean pancake; although they're run by real Koreans), but it's just too damn delicious. However, the service is not so good honestly. They can get pretty rude and they're always so busy that we can never get more water..... I mean a whole meal without a single refill of water... And oh, sometimes they randomly close (not during a usually closed day or a holiday), and leave a little note on the door. So, make sure you call beforehand.

One of the best Korean to be found in Montreal. Incredibly delicious and an outstanding value; one of my very favourite restaurants. You really shouldn't want to come here... otherwise I might not be able to be seated as quickly next time.Do call in advance to make sure they're open. It's family operated so there are times when they simply must close. (Part of the charm in my opinion but I have shown up, more often than I'd care to admit, only to be disappointed.)

Authentic korean restaurant. Food is delicious!! 4 stars; the restaurant is kind of small, and they are almost always closed for holidays/vacations (closed 2/3 of times when I wanted to go)

Good korean foods. A little pricey and long line waiting.

This place is very famous for their seafood pancake, called Pajeon. But don't expect the traditional thin Pajeon that you can find everywhere. This version is super thick and super yummy. I also like to eat the Galbi (beef rib), the Bibimba (mix bowl of rice) and the Sundubu jjigea (spicy tufu soup with a running egg yolk). Their are many others delicious dishes so you have to come back over and over.

The seafood pajeon is incredible. I tried it last night for the first time and I’m still thinking about it today. I’m not exaggerating. It’s the best thing I have eaten in Montreal. The staff are very friendly and efficient. I was very impressed. There was a wait to get a table, and apparently this is common. It was worth it. 🎆

Best pajeon in town.

Spicy rice cake was over cooked, too soft and the portion was definitely too small. The black noodles were no taste at all. The taste of seafood cake was ok, but you can taste the egg more than seafood. I like the spicy tofu soup with rice the most.

Really great little place with good homestyle food. I think the kim chi is homemade, along with everything else. Good spicy tofu soup. Not the best bibimbap I've had but still very good.

This is THE PLACE TO GO TO !!! from their seafood pancake to bulbogi to their dolsot bibimbap to their cold noodles, everything, everything is amazingly flavorful. Authentic to the core !!!

Hands down the best korean restaurant in montreal. Love the side dishes, especially the potatoes! The ribs and seafood pancake are amazing. Will be going back here 100%

Hidden Gem in NDG. Fantastically yummy Korean food from a 100% authentic family restaurant. Prices are excellent for the quality and quantity of food. Their kimchi is astounding. Highly recommended.They do not take reservation and close at 9 so don't be late!

Delicious and authentic!I highly recommend it.

The food was delicious. We had the seafood pancake, the spicy seafood noodle soup and BBQ beef ribs. The reason im only giving it 3 stars is because we got 3 pieces of meet with just bones for the BBQ beef for 25$. We felt a bit ripped off because of that.

Awesome staff and food

Love the seafood pancake here. Great value for lunch but they have a tendency to close when they want to without notice. So I recommend that you call ahead of time to make sure they will be open to avoid a wasted trip.

Small Korean place with good food and great service.

The food is excellent! I did not give a 5★ because we had to wait 45 minutes before getting served and the plate with the eel was slightly too pricy for what we got. Some tables were not cleaned before we got there and were still not cleaned by the time we left.TLDR; They were understaff so it took a long time.

I've been here several times. Every time the food has been excellent. The plates of kimchi that come with the meal are also a good touch.

Fantastic experience! We went on a Wednesday night and the place was packed, took it as a good sign. The service was quick and courteous. The food was excellent. We will be back
